One of the cool things about learning to blues dance is how it changes your perception. Specifically, it changes how you hear music, in a sense.
You’ll even begin to notice songs that play in the background more. Songs that play before movie previews, songs in public places, etc.
And without realizing it, you’ll start thinking about whether this is a song you could blues dance to! It makes going through the grocery store much more entertaining. ;P
Those same familiar songs…
You’ll even start hearing familiar songs a little differently. You’ll start hearing whether you could break out some blues moves to your favorite songs! It sounds a bit weird, but it’s actually pretty fun. And it can come in handy if you happen to hear one of those songs at a dance or party! After all, most of the time they won’t be playing classic blues tunes at a party. Unless of course, it’s a blues party you’re at! And those can be quite fun.
Sometimes blues dancing can even influence your club/party dancing without being obvious. Dancing blues teaches you to feel the pulse of a song instinctively, and make your moves based on that beat. It’s something dance partners may not be able to define, but will most certainly appreciate.
Blues dancing will, naturally, help you to appreciate blues music more. Being exposed to it so often, you may start getting familiar with certain blues classics without even realizing it. And isn’t it always nice to broaden your musical horizons?
