Blues dancing is great fun. But inevitably, you’re going to have to sit out for a song or two. You get tired! But by no means does that mean you have to be bored. You can get a drink, chat with friends, listen to the music…but there’s one thing in particular that I really enjoy doing. And that’s just watching people blues dance.
Now, I like to think I’m a decent dancer at this point. I’ve been partner dancing for a little over a year now. That being said, every week there are people at the Blues Union who are WAY better at dancing than am I. Watching these people on the dance floor is like getting to watch a free performance. It’s fun!
And what’s more, you can learn from it. One of the things I’m constantly trying to improve is my dancing vocabulary. You need to have enough moves to keep your partner (and yourself) from getting bored! Besides watching people dance simply for fun, I’ve found you can also learn from it. If you pay attention, you can pick up some new moves you can try yourself! It’s a great way to expand your dance vocabulary. 🙂
