This past Friday, as per usual, I went to the weekly swing dance at Boston Swing Central. This particular week, a live band was playing by the name of Swing Legacy. And for the first time, I heard a band that, in a way, played too well at the dance. 😛
Normally, when a band plays a song that is a favorite of mine, I make a point to dance to it, naturally. After two or three such songs, a song is usually played that I’m not as familiar with, and I take a break to sit down. Dancing non-stop for two hours would be…taxing, to say the least.
The set performed by Swing Legacy was amazing. They played one super fun song after another. I would hear a song I know and love, such as “Sing, Sing, Sing” or “Moondance“, and of course, I would dance to it. I would then sit down to take a rest, and they’d start up another great song, such that I just had to dance! It made for an incredibly enjoyable evening, albiet tiring!
Besides having a fun evening of dancing, the performance also made me a fan of the band. They did such a great job playing danceable, catchy songs; I would definitely see them again, given the chance. It’s another perk of going swing and blues dancing: besides being able to dance, you also get the chance to check out great live music, and maybe find some new favorite bands! 🙂
