To all of my readers: First of all, thanks for reading my blog. Secondly, sorry I haven’t updated in a while. Been busy with moving/job/life stuff. But now I’m back! So let’s talk about some dancing stuff.
Recently, a very good friend of mine invited me to be her date to her friend’s wedding. It was a bit short-notice (about a week), but I figured it’d be fun to see my friend, meet new people, and of course dance! So naturally I accepted the invitation. 🙂
After the ceremony and whatnot, there was the reception dinner in a ballroom, with, of course, a dance floor. And an open bar, which a lot of people seemed to be pretty big fans of. 😛 So there was background music playing, and we were served lovely appetizers, followed by dinner and dessert. And of course some lengthy speeches by loved ones and whatnot. There was a bit of dancing, which was great fun. My date knows how to follow, so we naturally headed right to the dance floor once everyone from the ceremony made it to the reception. I noticed a number of taking note of us as we danced, as we stood out a bit, being the only folks on the dance floor doing any partner/closed position dancing. My friend told later that part of the reason she invited me in particular (besides our being close friends) was because she knew I could dance, which I was naturally more than happy to do.  I’ve been to weddings before, and they’ve always been fun, but this was the first wedding I’ve been to since learning to partner dance. And I must say, having that dance experience made the wedding even more fun!
So to anybody reading this who has friends that may be getting married in the not-so-distant future, think about taking a few dance classes. They’ll serve you incredibly well when you’re partying to celebrate your friend’s wedding. And if you’re the one that may be getting married soon, knowing how to dance will serve you even more! After all, you want to be able to have a wonderful first dance with your partner, right? 😉 Hell, you could even do something as cool as this:
(I must admit, I love that her dress is made to become more swing-dance-friendly). So anyway. That’s my first wedding-going experience as a blues and swing dancer. And as expected, it was super fun!
